Founded by Leah Wright, a retired educator motivated by her personal experience with her son’s substance use challenges, Wake Monarch Academy opened its doors in August 2021 as the first recovery high school in the Triangle area. The school operates as a non-profit organization and relies on tuition, fundraising events, and donations to cover operating expenses. They also offer volunteer opportunities and resources for families affected by adolescent substance use disorders.
