Medical Wellness Center
Set on the University of New Mexico (UNM) campus in Albuquerque, UNM Health provides care for adults with mental health or substance use disorders. Their 96-bed facility at the Health Sciences Center is the first in New Mexico to offer neuromodulation as a treatment method for treatment-resistant depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Electric convulsive therapy (ECT) is one of their most popular methods of neuromodulation. UNM Health also offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to assist in recovery from substance use.
UNM Health offers tracks for pregnant women with substance use disorders, individuals involved in the justice system, Native American populations, adults 55+, and couples. UNM works to align its services with the clientele in the Albuquerque area. They carry medications for substance use treatment that are safe for the mom and the fetus.
UNM Health can provide their services Spanish to serve the large Spanish-speaking population.
UNM Health’s psychiatric services last about 3 to 6 weeks depending on the program track and individual needs. They have inpatient and outpatient stays that include individual, group, and family therapy plus their neuromodulation and medication treatments. They also provide outpatient detox.
UNM Health powers their client portal with mCharts. Clients can access their treatment notes during and after treatment through the mCharts website or app.
