About Heartland High School
Heartland High School, located in Columbus, Ohio, is the state’s only private, non-profit recovery high school dedicated to supporting adolescents in recovery from substance use disorders. The school offers a supportive and accessible environment where students can pursue a state-recognized diploma while focusing on their recovery journey. Annual tuition is $20,000 per year, with EdChoice scholarships available.
Recovery Resources
The Heartland Alternative Peer Group (APG) Program engages students and families through after-school activities, recovery meetings, fitness classes, and summer outings, fostering connections and parent involvement with support from a family coach. Recovery coaches provide group and individual sessions, while the Pathway Program helps students in early recovery build sobriety and relapse prevention skills before full enrollment.
Academic Approach
Heartland helps ensure all students have equal access to education through a blended learning model and social-emotional learning. Individualized academic plans and electives like art, music, and yoga promote creative expression and support long-term sobriety.
