Divine Promises has 2 women-only sober living homes, both in Kerrville Texas. The Jefferson House offers 5 bedrooms, 4 full baths, and 15 beds. The central location provides easy access to employment opportunities, grocery stores, and 12-step meetings. The Tree House is a 5 bedroom 3 bath home with 15 beds total as well. It is described to be Peacefully situated on 3 acres of land, just outside the city, the sober living homes offer a safe, tranquil place to recover. The amenities for both of their homes include outdoor gazebos, porches, or balconies. The bedrooms they provide are furnished, and there are shared living areas providing a TV, computer, and fast speed wireless internet.
Divine Promises believes that fellowship and acts of service are what lead to success in long-term recovery. They hold several annual fellowship events including recovery marches, toy drives, 12-Step activities, and holiday gatherings. In addition to participating in neighborhood activities, the home does a lot of things collectively to foster positive relationships with the women who live there. To bring the group together, weekly meetings are held along with family-style dinners, birthday parties, and holiday gatherings.
Along with fellowship and relationship strengthening, Divine Promises sober living aims to create a structured environment that provides their members with the necessary tools to live an independent and sober life. This means that there are certain rules or expectations that are put into place. Residents are required to work a 12-step program, attending 4 meetings minimum per week as well as one meeting per week with a sponsor. Members must be employed, enrolled in school, or volunteer on a schedule. There is a curfew that needs to be followed, as well as effective and courteous peer communication. The structure and accountability helps to foster outcomes of positive health, behavior, and relationship changes.
