Located in Duncansville, Pyramid Altoona Detox and Residential Treatment Center offers residential treatment and detox for substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns. Pyramid Healthcare seeks to make treatment affordable, accepting most private insurance and Medicaid, as well as accepting various finance options. Their location offers convenient access to I-99, Highway 22, and Highway 36, making treatment accessible to residents throughout Blair County. For clients traveling via public transportation, bus lines 8 and 11 stop just outside the building.
Clients needing detox from alcohol and other substances receive medical monitoring and withdrawal management from nurses and doctors on staff, helping ensure a comfortable start to recovery. Contact with family is not allowed in most circumstances during this time, but clients are allowed 2 weekly phone calls following detox. Pyramid Healthcare also offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to help reduce substance cravings, especially for alcohol and opiates.
Pyramid Altoona Detox and Residential Treatment Center offers individual therapy, combining cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). They offer trauma-informed treatment for veterans and are recognized as a Veteran Ready Organization by PsychArmor. Clients engage in group therapy, including gender-specific groups for trauma, relapse prevention, and anger management. Pyramid uses a 12-Step model, with AA and NA meetings as part of treatment. Psychiatrists prescribe and manage medications for co-occurring mental health conditions.
Pyramid also offers holistic therapy, including art therapy, drum circles, and yoga. Clients engage in life skills training, including resume building, job application support, housing planning, and aftercare planning. Clients can exercise during treatment, with a fitness room, basketball court, and outdoor recreation area at the center.
