Medical Wellness Center
Located near the Clark Fork River and W Broadway Street in Missoula, Winds of Change Mental Health Center is an outpatient treatment center specializing in case management, community based support, therapy, medication management, and life skills training for adults and children with mental health and substance use concerns. Winds of change additionally offers group home living for adults designed as a short term housing option to help clients gain stability. Winds of Change is associated with the Wellness Institute of Montana nonprofit organization and accepts Medicaid for many of their programs.
Each client participating in treatment has a case manager, peer support specialist, therapist, and may work with psychiatric staff for medication management. 1-on-1 therapy, offered both in person and by video, helps clients identify behaviors and attitudes that need to be changed, set goals, and enact desired changes. Addiction treatment for substance use and gambling includes substance use and behavioral assessment, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and more. Clients engage in life skills training, including financial management, and receive assistance from case managers with finding housing, work, and education opportunities. Winds of Change also offers evening anger management courses which are court recognized and help participants identify anger early on and communicate in a calm manner. Other recovery groups include relationship classes, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), driver education, and illness management.
Winds of Change offers treatment for children ages 5-18 with mental health and substance use concerns. Therapists implement eye movement desensitization and reconditioning (EMDR), solution-based therapy, and more, working alongside case workers who advocate for clients, help them develop goals, and connect them to the resources they need.
