The Carpenter Shed is a transitional living program designed for young men aged 16 to 20 who are navigating mental health and substance use disorders. With a highly structured, community-based approach, the program equips young men with the essential tools to discover their purpose. Central to The Carpenter Shed’s treatment process is a commitment to addressing each client’s unique experiences and recognizing their traumas, ensuring a supportive and personalized healing journey.
The Carpenter Shed uses a four-phase process focused on rewiring harmful behaviors and negative thinking patterns, regardless of specific diagnoses. The program unfolds in four distinct phases: the first phase emphasizes resetting and rewiring behaviors, while the second phase is dedicated to rebuilding and setting future goals. The third phase encourages accountability and self-redefinition, and the final phase marks the young men’s newfound sense of independence and renewal. Their care approach integrates multiple life domains—mental, physical, social, spiritual, educational, familial, and vocational—ensuring a holistic and well-rounded support system.
Located in Monroe, Louisiana, the facility is surrounded by 20-acres on Cheniere Lake. The facility provides clients with a cozy environment for healing and community-building. Patients have access to a large lounge area to unwind, private sitting areas for one-on-one meetings and coaching sessions, and a fully-equipped kitchen where they are taught to plan and prepare meals. On-campus activities include fishing, cycling, hiking, and pet therapy. The program is accredited by the Better Business Bureau and the Joint Commission, and accepts most major insurance plans.
