When a teen is in crisis from a mental health concern, it’s crucial to get them help immediately. Inpatient treatment at Longleaf Hospital serves adolescents ages 13-17 who are struggling with severe symptoms of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Hospitalization is most appropriate for young people whose symptoms are so overwhelming that they can no longer function, and they may be at risk for harming themselves or someone else. Because of this, every teen receives round-the-clock care from a multidisciplinary team of experts that ensures their safety and fosters their continued progress. The goal of hospitalization is for a young person to feel stable enough to transition to a lower level of care or back home, which is why inpatient stays are usually short. Most young people remain at our hospital for seven to 10 days, but we evaluate each teen individually before deciding when they should take the next steps in their healing process.
