About McLean Hospital

The McLean Hospital Child Outpatient Clinic, located on the campus of the Sancta Maria Nursing Facility in Cambridge, provides compassionate, patient-centered care to children and teens and their families. We offer several approaches to psychiatric care for youth struggling with anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, bipolar disorder, phobias, and executive dysfunction. The outpatient clinic (COP) will conduct an initial evaluation to help determine the best type of treatment moving forward. The outpatient clinic offers individual and group therapy, as well as medication management, when indicated. We work closely with each patient and family to develop a personalized treatment plan, which may include services in the clinic or referral to services in the larger McLean and Mass General Brigham system. The McLean Anxiety Mastery Program (MAMP), part of the Child Outpatient Clinic at McLean Hospital, is an intensive, group-based outpatient program for youth ages 6-19 with primary anxiety disorders and/or OCD. MAMP’s interdisciplinary approach includes comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, individualized treatment planning, exposure therapy, psychoeducation and skills groups for patients and their caregivers, and weekly family sessions with psychologists and psychiatrists. MAMP provides group-based cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) emphasizing exposure therapy. The goal of our intensive treatment is to deliver approximately a year’s work of CBT in a manner of weeks, allowing youth to rapidly make treatment progress and experience symptom relief.
